How Writing Has Impacted Me

Writing has affected my life by helping me learn how to tap into my emotions and become more articulate. Through learning how to write I have become a more well-rounded person. Writing has improved my connection to others and myself.

Learning grammar and mechanics has developed me into a more articulate individual, which resulted in my thoughts having a greater impact on others. Much of my English education has been focused on the proper grammar and mechanics of academic writing. After continuous practice, I and other people noticed my speech started to change. Others found me much easier to understand, and my thoughts were respected in a way they have not been before. Of course, knowledge of grammar and mechanics has strengthened the impact of my writing. Because I know parts of speech and sentence structure I look at sentences through a more enhanced lens than I did previously. Grammar and mechanics have improved my daily communication and are influential in my writing skills today.

Writing has helped me to tap into my emotions and understand myself in a way I never have before. Journaling and poetry are my favorite mediums to express myself in a constructive way. Most of my journaling is done in a stream of consciousness, allowing me to see an accurate reflection of my thoughts. This way, I can observe patterns in my thinking and identify needs I did not know I had. Similarly, when I write poetry, I write from a place of emotion. Writing poetry gives me the sense of relief I need when I am feeling upset and allows for the expression of awe at the experience of beauty. Journaling and poetry have had a therapeutic impact on me and made me a better person. Writing has an impact on me, in a way that is similar to art.

Writing has enhanced my life and others who communicate with me by improving clarity in my communication and helping me grow emotionally. Because I can write others understand me, and I understand myself. Grammar and mechanics have enhanced my communication on a practical level and journaling and poetry have enhanced my life on a personal level. Writing has been a great tool for personal development in my life.
